Alhamdulillah! With the generous support of our donors, Project Mira has been successfully completed. This project was dedicated to helping Mira, a 70-year-old man with physical and mental disabilities, and his elderly wife, who were living in extremely difficult conditions.
The Situation
Mira struggles to speak and move due to his disabilities. Our team first noticed him while he was wandering on the road, hands and legs trembling. When we visited their home, we found a broken-down house with no proper toilet. Mira’s wife survives by collecting small amounts of rice and lentils from neighbors, and they have a son who does not care for them. Their daily survival depends entirely on the kindness of others.
Two major needs were immediately identified:
- A proper toilet
- Consistent access to food
How the Funds Were Used
We Do Charity spent 6,544 BDT (~$53.80) to build a proper sanitary latrine, ensuring dignity and safety for Mira and his wife. A local volunteer helped with the labor, which saved additional costs.
Expense Breakdown:
| Item | Cost (BDT) |
|---|---|
| Slab + Column | 1,770 |
| Tin Sheets | 2,935 |
| Transportation | 800 |
| Wood | 712 |
| Wire & Iron | 170 |
| Cash-out charges | 117 |
| Total | 6,544 |
Additionally, We Do Charity provided gifts, food supplies, and medicines to support their immediate needs.
Ongoing Need
While the toilet is now complete, the couple still struggles to meet their daily food needs. A small monthly donation of 2,000–3,000 BDT can ensure they have regular meals and live their old age with dignity, without having to beg from house to house.
