Md. Omar Faruk, a brilliant student from Olidah village in Sirajganj, achieved the remarkable feat of passing the highly competitive university admission tests in Bangladesh. He was accepted into Begum Rokeya University for the 2023-2024 academic session. This was a moment of immense pride for his father, Ahmed Ali, and the entire Ramkrishnapur Union. However, their pride quickly turned to despair when they realized they could not afford the mandatory enrollment fee of 11,000 BDT.

For rural students in Bangladesh, entering university is a rare pathway out of generational poverty. But the initial costs of admission fees, books, and travel to the campus often act as an insuperable barrier for low-income farming families.

A Direct Classmate Connection

This project held a deeply personal connection for We Do Charity. Omar Faruk was a classmate of our founder, Ilias Sami, during their school days at Unukha Pagla Pir High School (SSC Batch of 2020). When Ilias learned that his former classmate was about to lose his hard-earned university seat because of a mere 11,000 BDT, he immediately mobilized the We Do Charity network. We launched the fundraiser on October 20, 2024, with the code "OMAR" to ensure every contribution was tracked directly.

What happened next was a beautiful testament to the power of human kindness. Shortly after the appeal was published, a single compassionate donor stepped forward and contributed the entire 11,000 BDT. The transaction was instantly processed and sent to Omar Faruk via bKash. This immediate action secured his enrollment at Begum Rokeya University, ensuring he didn't miss his dream. This success proved that sometimes, all it takes is one person's generosity to permanently alter the trajectory of a young life.
