Project Winter 2024
The Need: Facing the Severe Bangladeshi Winter
Winter in rural Bangladesh, particularly in northern districts like Sirajganj, is characterized by dense fog, bone-chilling winds, and a lack of proper heating. For families living in poverty, winter is not just a season—it is a struggle for survival. Without warm clothes, blankets, or basic protective skin products, children and the elderly suffer from severe cold-related illnesses.
We Do Charity launched the Winter Relief Campaign 2024 on December 3, with a target of 38,430 BDT. The goal was to provide warm hoodies, thick socks, earcaps, and petroleum jelly to protect the skin from dry winter damage.
Execution and Scaling of Impact
Our coordinators Rabbi Miah (Moulvibazar) and Mutasim Billah Mahin (Sirajganj) conducted strict field checks to identify the 95 most vulnerable individuals. The response was outstanding: we raised 43,200 BDT, allowing us to expand our target. We partnered with local suppliers to manufacture high-quality winter packages at an efficient cost of just 549 BDT per package.
A total of 44,240 BDT was spent to distribute 70 complete winter packages and 22 heavy wool shawls, serving a total of 95 individuals across Sirajganj (38 packages) and Moulvibazar (32 packages). The minor deficit of 1,040 BDT was funded from WDC's emergency fund.
