Mill Driver Family — Annual Support

Also known as: Project Standing With The Helpless / Mill Driver Project

The Crisis: A Deceased Father and a Family Left Behind

The family of a local mill driver was struck by a devastating double tragedy. The father, who was the sole breadwinner, was diagnosed with stomach and pancreatic cancer. Bedridden and unable to work, the family fell into severe debt. Shortly thereafter, the driver passed away, leaving behind his wife, elderly mother, and a young daughter with no source of income or financial safety net.

We Do Charity originally opened this project as a medical support case, but following the driver's passing and our strict alignment with sustainability, we redirected our efforts to long-term family care. We launched a campaign raising 20,000 BDT to support the family's basic needs.

A Sustainable Support Plan

Instead of distributing all the cash at once, we developed a monthly disbursement plan of approximately 1,667 BDT per month to ensure the family has a stable source of food. Additionally, we began helping them plan a small backyard poultry farming business so they could achieve self-reliance and earn a sustainable income. We also provided special food packages during Ramadan to ensure they could break their fasts with dignity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why did WDC redirect the medical funds?

A: After the driver sadly passed away, we pivoted the campaign from medical aid to long-term family rehabilitation and food security.

Q: What is the long-term plan for this family?

A: We are helping the mother set up a small-scale poultry farming business to provide her with a steady, independent livelihood.

Q: How does this connect to other family support initiatives?

A: This campaign is semantically connected to our other widows and family support programs, such as Project 3: Dukhuni Aunty Annual Support and Project 17: Rahela Chachi House Construction.
